HISTORY OF THE SOUTHERN RALLY
DARRELL STEVENSON ~ FIREHOUSE BIKERS, CHAPTER #164
Wind & Fire MC has four Corporate Rallies annually. This includes the Southern Rally which is now held in April in the Texas hill country.
The Southern Rally was born in June 2001. A prominent member and his wife had a motor home set up at the Republic of Texas (ROT) Rally in Austin, Texas. They threw a big party and invited Wind & Fire MC members to attend. A good time was had by all. Another party was hosted the following year in 2002, which was also a huge success.
As a consequence, it was decided at that time they wanted to start having an official Wind & Fire MC rally. In September 2002, many members met in Colorado for the Ride To Remember. There was a scheduled meeting of the Wind & Fire MC International Board of Directors where the idea was presented. The Board voted to include a Southern Rally as one of the Club’s corporate rallies.
The first official Wind & Fire MC Southern Rally was held in June 2003 piggy-backing the ROT and concurrently run through 2009. In 2010 and 2011, the rally was still held in the month of June but the venue was moved to Cindy’s Gone Hog Wild in Del Valle near Bastrop, Texas. In 2012, Chapter 164, Firehouse Bikers took over hosting the event. The venue was then moved to the Texas Hill Country in April in Kerrville, Texas where it is currently held each year except for a few previous years in Fredericksburg.
